Community Solutions Podcast

May 2, 2018

www.commsolutionsmn.com- We had a chance to sit down for an interview with Minnesota Governor candidate, Phillip Parrish. Phillip is the third out of four candidates left in the race that we've had the opportunity to get on the podcast. Phillip is a former teacher, principal, and Naval Intelligence Officer. He talks to us about how he came to get into the governor's race, some of the threats we face, and how we've strayed from the U.S. constitution. We also discuss ways in which the state government interacts with local government and how groups like the Met Council have challenged local control.

Also in the Local Lowdown, we discuss the most recent Eden Prairie city council meeting, where they discuss banning assault weapons across the city. They are following the lead of cities like Deerfield, Illinois and Highland Park, Illinois in waging a campaign against residents' right of self protection. The preemption battle is only beginning to heat up at the local level. We're going to see a lot of fights over this in the upcoming years surrounding things like gun control, minimum wage, minimum tobacco age, local sales taxes, climate change legislation, etc, etc... The time to get involved is now, not after these changes are made.
