Community Solutions Podcast

Mar 6, 2019 Government and large companies have joined forces in the east metro to facilitate and accelerate the addition of multiple light rail and bus rapid transit corridors. They call themselves East Metro Strong. There's a huge problem: they don't consult the wishes of their residents. Groups like the McKnight Foundation can give $750,000, but the citizens are the ones stuck with the bill. You have all of these local politicians that get into a group purposed with making something happen, so how can they also represent the residents who may or may not agree with these projects? You can't serve two masters. Just so you are clear, they are not backing off from serving their transit lords. Sorry. We give you the skinny to bring you up to speed and tell you what you can do to fight back.

We also discuss a measure in California cities to put a Ride Hauling Fee (an extra tax) on ride sharing companies like Uber and Lyft in the the name of paying "their fair share". The problem is in penalizing what they believe to be big companies, they are really just penalizing customers and the sole proprietors that drive for these companies. This is all part of the war on cars, and the opposing side is dead set on getting you out of your vehicle.
