Community Solutions Podcast

Oct 10, 2019 If you have listened to the show for any time at all, you know how we feel about appointments to fill vacancies for nonpartisan seats over having a special election. Spoiler alert: We hate them. The idea of having a republic is one where we elect people to represent us in our government. Appointments allow majorities to keep their advantage by appointing like-minded people. Ramsey is one MN city that has special elections over appointments. This November Ramsey will decide who will fill out the rest of a vacant term in Ward 3, which includes Hwy 10 and The Core. We sit down with candidate, Dan Specht, to discuss what's going on in Ramsey and what it's like to run in a special election. We talk taxes, franchise fees, development, water and sewer, business, and Killebrew Root Beer.

We also discuss how useless and depressing the Sunday political shows are.

Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. We’ve launched the Spotify playlist: “Community Solutions Music From the Podcast!” You can listen to Roundabout from Yes after listing to Episode 30 on Roundabouts… or kick back and enjoy a rocking playlist just for the thrill of it.
