Community Solutions Podcast

Mar 1, 2021

www.commsolutionsmn.com- We are finally turning 200 episodes old! There have been so many great episodes over the last four-plus seasons, and we spend some time telling you about our favorites. For all of you new to the show, we can point you toward some real good ones.

If you've never heard how we got started, it's definitely worth a listen. You should definitely check out Episode 1 (Why We Do It), if you haven't. In Episode 8 (Ring Around Roseau), we picked a Minnesota city out of thin air and proved that comprehensive plans are pretty much the same all over the state. We tackled two super important election issues in Episodes 37 (Ranked Choice Voting) and 38(Why We Hate Odd Year Elections). These issues aren't going away, so they are timeless episodes. In Episode 47 (Do Levy Limits Work?), we break down why they don't and why you should nip it in the bud whenever it comes up. Almost all of Minnesota is under one of 10 Regional Development Organizations (RDO's), under the Minnesota Association of Development Organizations (MADO). We introduce you to them in Episode 67 (Shark-MADO Is Running Loose). In one of our many podcasts on the war on cars, Episode 77 (Vision Zero or Zero Vision?) details how they want to get rid of traffic deaths by bringing a death to traffic. In Episode 102 (Unsportsmanlike Conduct), we detail the history of public financed sports stadiums, and why it's a bad idea. In Episode 112 (Let's Make A Deal), we discuss how we are bypassing officially signing treaties with all of these international agreements, and cities are getting a piece of the action. There is a move in the local offices in the Metro to go from left to further left in Episode 121 (From Bad To Worse). We discuss how cities determine their preliminary levies and dish out the worst offenders in Episode 136 (Hey, Big Spender). We tackle all of the waste that was disbursed from the CARES Act in Episode 172 (We're In The Money).

We cover all of these and so much more! There have been so many great guests and topics that you won't hear on any other podcast. We'd love to hear from you about your favorites!

We also take a little time to discuss the recent hearing. The Senate finally brought in Jan Malcolm to discuss the survey that is being given to senior vaccine recipients, asking about their sexual preference, if they are depressed, and other very intrusive questions. Governor Walz is also teasing us with another possible relaxing of restrictions, but who knows for sure. There's no reason that there aren't at least some fans in the stands. There's no reason that secondary students aren't in school. C'mon, Walz, let's stop this nonsense.

Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode, Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. Andrew never knows what they are, but now he can… and so can you! We’ve launched the Spotify playlist: “Community Solutions Music From the Podcast!” You can listen to Roundabout from Yes after listing to Episode 30 on Roundabouts… or kick back and enjoy a rocking playlist just for the thrill of it. We add a new song every week. Subscribe and enjoy!
