Community Solutions Podcast

Apr 4, 2019 When we say the word "police" it produces a reaction. For some it is positive, for some negative, and for others it is smack dab in the middle. We, at Community Solutions MN, call 'em as we see 'em. No one or no thing is all good or all bad. We take some time to trade stories about our interactions with police (good and bad) and what the proper role of law enforcement is. We understand they have a difficult job and risk their lives everyday. We also know full well that they can go over and above in extra enforcement, public campaigns, and profiling. What is the right amount of law enforcement? How much is too much? How little is too little? We start the discussion, because we all want safe communities, but none of us want to be made into a potential criminal. Add your $0.02!

In the Local Lowdown, we discuss how the Republican-led MN State Senate passed a bill to ban cell phone use in vehicles without a hands-free device. DFL Senator, Bobby Joe Champion, introduced an amendment to allow for a piece of clothing, like a hijab or a scarf, to act as a hands-free device. Some of our conservative senators were against the amendment, but voted for it anyways, in as part of the full bill.
